Doane University has a competitive admission process in which students are considered for admissions based largely on their academic performance and credentials. Doane University evaluates each individual student for admission based on their academic merit as previous education, performance test scores, and English proficiency.

International Student Application Steps

Requirements and Criteria

Academic Performance Requirements:

International Students - Graduating High School 

U.S. High School GPA: 3/0+ cumulative or equivalent

International Students - Transferring from a U.S. accredited university with 24+ transferable credit hours

College GPA: 2.5+ cumulative

Note: Students with GPA and test scores below these equivalents will be considered for admittance by Doane University's Faculty Admission Committee.

English Proficiency Requirements:

DuoLingo English Test: Minimum score of 95 for Undergraduate Students
DuoLingo English Test: Minimum score of 95 for Graduate and Adult Students

TOEFL:

  • IBT: 75 - with minimums of 16 in reading, listening, speaking and writing
  • PBT paper-based: 525
  • CBT computer-based: 196
  • IELTS: Minimum score of 6
  • ACT: English subscore of 21
  • SAT:Reading score of 27

Note: Students will not be admitted without minimum English proficiency scores. Score must be from a test taken within the last two years.

Complete Doane Application
  1. Complete the Doane University Student Application
  2. Email the following items to [email protected]
    • Transcripts: Provide official, course-by-course evaluated copies of all secondary and post-secondary transcripts.
    • Test scores: Demonstrating English proficiency. Doane's SAT/TOEFL school code: 6165 Doane's ACT school code: 2448.
    • Proof of Financial Responsibility: Students must demonstrate that sufficient funding is available to cover the costs of one year of their study at Doane University.
I-20, Passport, and F-1 Student Visa

Obtain I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status)

Once admitted and after submitting proof of financial responsibility, students will receive an I-20, which is for applying for a visa interview. This document is proof of the student's eligible student status and will be provided by Doane University.

Passport

It is the student's responsibility to maintain a current passport. For entry to the U.S., your passport must be valid for at least six months before your date of entry. If you have questions or concerns regarding your F-1 status, visit the Office of International Programs.

F-1 Student Visa

  1. Pay SEVIS I-901 Fee
  2. Make an appointment with the U.S. Consulate for a VISA interview
    Visit www.ustraveldocs.com or educationusa.state.gov for information about the application process and required documentation. You can apply up to 120 days before the report date on your I-20. At your application appointment, you will need: 
  • I-20 and letter of admission
  • Receipt of payment on the SEVIS I-90 fee
  • Receipt of payment of Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee
  • Visa reciprocity fee, if required
  • Completed Visa Application
  • Proof of financial responsibility
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • Passport-sized photos
  • School reports, mark sheets, transcripts, test scores, etc
Submit Enrollment Deposit and Other Forms/Documents

Enrollment Deposit 

Once the I-20 is received, the student should pay the enrollment deposit. The enrollment deposit amount is in the initial admittance notification. 

Complete and Submit Other Forms/Documents

Once admitted, you would receive additional information about the following materials to complete enrollment at Doane. You can begin working on these before obtaining a Visa. 

  1. Proof of Health Insurance
    A current U.S. insurance card and/or U.S. insurance policy outlining coverage should be submitted. If the student does not have appropriate insurance, an insurance plan can be set up with the Doane University admission office before arrival. International student-athletes should make sure that their insurance plan covers intercollegiate athletic injuries.
  2. Student Health Forms
    Students should complete the necessary health forms on Doane’s Health Portal. All required immunizations must be obtained before entering the United States. International student-athletes should complete additional health documentation found in the “ My Forms” tab within the Health Portal.   3. Student Housing Form
    This form is used to make housing assignments based on student interests and habits. Click here for more information and access to these forms.
  4. Course Enrollment
    After paying the deposit, the student is eligible to complete enrollment registration for class selection through WebAdvisor. Enrollment should but is not required to be coordinated by the admission office before student arrival on campus.
  5. Application Documents
    Original, official copies of all application documents are required upon arrival to campus.
  6. Payment
    All student balances (remaining costs for tuition, fees, room, board, and books) must be paid in full by the first day of each term
Arrival

Instructions

  1. If you are arriving by air, plan to arrive at the Lincoln, Nebraska airport. The airport code is LNK.
  2. Contact the Admissions office with your arrival information at least five days in advance of your arrival. Email Admissions at [email protected]
  3. Make sure to arrange transportation from the airport to campus. Doane University can have a student or employee pick you up, or you can contact OMALINK Transportation. Please note there is a fee for this service. (www.omalink.com or +1-402-475-5465)
  4. Follow the directions in your admission packet for check-in and orientation. Check-in with Student Leadership or Office of International Programs for additional information.

Timeline

  • Arrive at Doane University the Tuesday before classes begin.
  • International Student Pre-Orientation the Wednesday and Thursday before classes begin.
  • New Student Orientation on Friday.
  • Class begins the following Tuesday.
