Example Projects

Since the DIVAS project began in 2017, Scholars have worked on a variety of pair programming projects and independent research projects including:

  • measuring root growth from time-lapsed images of maize seedlings
  • tracking the course of a titration from a video and sending a notification when it has reached equilibrium
  • detecting breaks in veterinary X-ray images
  • detecting colorimetric reactions of root exudates with chemical indicators
  • reading in a Sodoku puzzle from an image and solving it
  • developing an image processing platform to detect chemotaxis
  • developing a raspberry pi-based platform to image and measure growth of brome grass from K-12 inquiry-based curriculum
  • automated counting of bacterial cells in a Petroff Hausser chamber
